Hankinson Group Welcomes the Next Generation of Apprentices Back

Date published: January 29, 2019

Group Chief Executive Stephen Hankinson is delighted to welcome the next generation of apprentices to the Hankinson Group. Morgan Hague recently joined the Birkenhead Head Office team on a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship in November 2018, and we have also recently appointed Trainee Estimator Dudley Tugwete at our Nottingham office.

Stephen Hankinson, Group Chief Executive said: “It is a pleasure to welcome Dudley and Morgan to our family company.

It is particularly pleasing that Morgan joins the company as she is the third of the Brown family, joining grandfather Keith and uncle Russell.”

Morgan was recently interviewed by our Business Development Manager Jeremy Hankinson, with a view to finding out what motivated her to go down the apprenticeship route rather than following the traditional route of sixth form college. To watch Morgan’s complete interview, you can view it here on Youtube.

Dudley Tugwete was able to join the Whittle Programmed team following the decision to put in place a succession plan for estimators at the Nottingham office. The recruitment process resulted in 28 applications from which Dudley was chosen as the most suitable candidate, having recently just completed his A levels.

Andrew Simpson, Nottingham Operations Manager, said: “As a Trainee Estimator we were keen for him to continue in vocational training by registering him at New College Nottingham on the Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. Although Dudley had limited knowledge of the role, since joining us he has fitted in with the Nottingham team perfectly and is an enthusiastic young person to have around.”

“There are many people within the company who have joined us at a young age and many as apprentices or trainees. They have gone on to be the bedrock of the company,” said Stephen Hankinson.

Morgan and Dudley follow Hugh and Deanna who joined us in February 2018 as painting and decorating apprentices for our North West team. Jeremy Hankinson and Carl Hampton have been instrumental in recruiting these apprentices from Wirral Met College and have been really impressed with their progress over the last year. Wirral Met have also been so impressed with Deanna’s development that she was recently asked to participate in a promotional video which showed the vast range of practical apprenticeships available at the College.

As a further engagement with the College, Jeremy and Carl have also offered to help their students prepare for future interviews and will be running mock interview sessions.

Jeremy and Carl commented: “It is great to see young people join the company and have the opportunity to watch them grow and develop their skills throughout their apprenticeship.”

The company plans to take further management apprentices on in the Midlands. If this is something you are considering, please contact us via the Careers page on our website. To learn more about the benefits of an apprenticeship, visit the GOV.UK website.
